Here’s an interesting video online on how to make, finish, and install a Sapele counter top. It showcases really beautiful work and is well explained by Jon Peters.
Sapele is a very beautiful hardwood from Africa that can have great ribboning when quarter sewn. It is very popular for furniture, cabinets, and, as you can see in video series, for counter tops. Sapele works fairly well with hand and machine tools, tends to tear interlocked grain in planing, saws easily, good gluing and nailing properties, satisfactory peeling and slicing.
ETT Fine Woods provides Sapele Lumber as wholesale product for manufacturers, lumber yards, and lumber resellers. We are a direct importer, so we can give you the best prices and quality of products.
Has anyone else worked with sapele before? What about counter tops if anyone has any comments or advice please share below in the comments.
