Deck Tiles
Ipe Tiles
An exotic hardwood that is naturally resistant to rot and decay, ipe offers the durability of teak at about one-third of the price. Ipe tiles can be installed as either a permanent or temporary wood surface.
Ipe deck tiles age to a silvery gray patina, or you can maintain their rich dark-brown color by applying a penetrating wood sealer.
Using the Deck Connector product, our Ipe tiles can easily be installed by homeowners or professionals.
East Teak uses only high-quality, kiln-dried, Ipe that:
- Is very durable, with natural oils that retards water and prevents the wood from warping, cracking or becoming brittle
- Contains natural substances that repel termites, marine borers and other insects
- Requires no maintenance and ages to a silver patina
- Can maintain a golden color with the application of a sealant.
About Ipe Wood used in our Decking Tiles
Ipe (spelled ipe and pronounced “ee-pay”), also called Brazilian walnut, is a beautiful exotic wood from South America. Ipe Lumber is used for Ipe wood decking, Ipe wood decking tiles, and other outdoor applications, ipe wood structures are hard, strong, and naturally resistant to rot, abrasion and weather. It is almost twice as dense as most woods and up to five times harder. It is dark brown in color, like a mahogany, so not only lasts a long time but has the beauty of a fine interior wood. If ipe lumber is allowed to age, color can be brought back to its original shade with the use of a pressure washer. Ipe lumber has become a very popular and inexpensive alternative to teak lumber.
